　　这是因为不知道“有趣的东西”是单数还是复数，所以默认用单数来表示，用“was”。
　　Was there anything interesting?可直译为“那儿有什么有趣的事情么？”
　　例句：
　　1、If that's all you're saying, you're not saying anything interesting.
　　这样你所说的就并没有什么意思。

不定代词习惯上看成单数但严格说来也可看成复数用were 但用的不多

anyone、anybody、anything、everyone、everybody、everything、someone、somebody、something、no one、nobody、nothing、each、the other作主语，谓语动词用单数。
