Ranking second nationally for accounting and finance according to the Complete University Guide, Bath offers a first rate ecation as well as career opportunities. Many degrees at the university incorporate a placement year in instry, meaning students can get real world experience before stepping out on their own. Students can also have a go at taking part in the Students of Bath Investment Club, a team aiming to put together a competitive portfolio, who invest on the basis of democratic decisions.

The University of Nottingham is one of the largest institutions in the UK, and their careers service offers one-on-one meetings with recruiters in addition to a raft of other opportunities. Ranking in the top 10 nationally for economics and maths according to the Complete University Guide, Durham University is a solid choice academically. On the investment side, the recently rebranded Durham University Finance Society are sponsored by several major banks and investment firms including Citi, Barclays, and Morgan Stanley. Their fund team arranges around 40 analysts arranged within 10 sector teams, each specialising in a different type of financial proct.

Well known for their strength in maths, economics and finance, Warwick offers serious ecational prowess, coupled with high student satisfaction and graate prospects. Sponsors of Warwick Finance Societies (WFS) – a group of seven sub-societies – include HSBC and Deutsche Bank. WFS was awarded the prize for the Best Society in the UK last year, and ran over 120 events in total.

The Oxford Finance Society was founded in 1990, and aims to provide members with all they need to pursue a successful career in finance. Citi Bank and Deutsche Bank maintain top level sponsorship of the society.

The University of Cambridge tops the Complete University Guide table for both maths and economics. Students hoping to break into investment banking can join the Cambridge University Finance and Investment Society, which with over 2,500 members is able to provide a large range of workshops, networking sessions and recruitment events. Membership is free and top level sponsors include Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and Blackrock.

Particularly strong on global rankings lists, UCL's academic credentials are strong, although entry standards are correspondingly high. Students attending UCL have the option of joining the Investment Society, Economics and Finance Society and can take advantage of the substantial careers services on offer.

In the number one spot is the London School of Economics, whose specialism puts them near the top of the pile in all things financial. Alumni include Josef Ackermann, the former CEO of Deutsche Bank and Clara Furse, former Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange. The LSE Investment Society organises over 50 events a year and work with a wide range of corporate sponsors to help members build their skills in preparation for a career in investment.
