Department of Architecture
Academic Staff
Department of Architecture currently offers a degree programme in Architecture. Architecture at XJTLU will reflect its strong links with the highly rated Architecture School at Liverpool University; the oldest University School of Architecture in the UK, and rated third in the Research Assessment Exercise.
The undergraate degree is broadly speaking split into three major elements in every year. The major element is Architectural design, accounting for around 50% of the course. Architectural Technologies (Environmental, Constructional and Structural) account for about 25%. History, Urban Studies and Practice account for the final 25%.
We plan to offer an innovative two part graate programme to follow the BEng in Architecture, that will allow graates to take a further one year for a BArch degree, or two years for an MArch. The Department would expect to hold The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) accreditation which will be sought along with the first cohort of graates from the Architecture degree.
The Department enjoys good links with major international Practices such as AEDAS and we expect that students and graates will benefit from these links.
Research areas in Department of Architecture fall under one of two major umbrellas, 'Technology & Process', and 'History and Theory'. Particular research strands would embrace the following particular areas; Low carbon and Sustainable Design, Architectural Computing, Environmental Sciences, Urban Design, Architectural History, International Design Issues and Research by Design.

建筑系目前开设建筑学专业。利物浦大学建筑学院办学历史悠久，在英国建筑类学科评级中处于领先地位，科研排名在英国高等教育科研评估中名列第三。我系的建筑学专业继承并融合了两所母校的建筑学专业教学体系和优势，课程设置特色鲜明。
建筑学本科专业设置主要覆盖三个核心知识体系，其中建筑设计构成该专业主干课程，占所有专业课程的50%，建筑技术（包括环境、建造及结构）占25%， 历史、城市研究与实践占25%。
根据其发展规划，建筑系还将创新性为毕业生提供多种深造机会，毕业生获得建筑学工学学士学位后继续深造一年将可以获得建筑学文学学士学位，深造两年可以获得建筑学硕士学位。 此外，建筑系还将申请英国皇家建筑师学会认证，有望在建筑系首届学生毕业时获批。
建筑系与国际知名建筑设计公司如英国AEDAS建筑事务所将建立长期合作关系，我系毕业生也将从这种战略合作中受益。
在科研方面，建筑系致力于在技术与流程、历史与理论两个领域重点开展科研，研究方向包括：低碳及可持续设计、计算机辅助建筑设计、环境科学、城市规划、建筑史、国际化设计问题研究、基于设计的研究等。
