中国元旦习俗主要有燃放炮竹，敬鬼神，拜祭先人。一般机关，企业会举行年终集体庆祝活动，但民间活动很少。

庆祝元旦的三大方式

1.全中国甚至是全世界都把元旦定为法定节日，在元旦这天放假。新中国成立后，也规定元旦为法定节日，放假一天。

2.现在比较普遍的就是由团体组织的活动，如元旦联欢会、挂庆祝元旦的标语、或举行集体活动等。以前有组织敲锣打鼓、集体跳民族舞的，到科技发展的今天，就演变为联欢晚会了，近年更是有旅游、聚会等节目。

3.保留着中国传统的庆祝方式就在于民间了，尤其是在农村。每到元旦，家家户户都会燃放炮竹，杀鸡宰鹅的，拜祭过各方神灵后，就是一家人团圆，聚一餐。

And children are very happy because they can get the lucky money from their parents and relatives. On the Festival, there are lion dances and some other activities, which last at least three days. People usually have a very good time ring the festival.
