范文:Najib Mahafuz (December 11, 1911 - August 29, 2006), an Egyptian writer and one of the most important intellectuals in the Arab world.
When Najib was four years old, he was sent to a private school to study the Koran and receive religious enlightenment ecation. In 1988, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. He was the first Arabic writer to win the Nobel Prize for literature.
Reason for award: "he has formed the art of Arab language appreciated by all mankind through a large number of incisive works - insight realism and arousing people's ambition".
