would rather 如果接句子，属于虚拟语气，从句一般用一般过去式，如：I would rather you didn't go there alone. 我宁愿你别自己去那儿。prefer ... to ...： 两者比较更愿意要前者，后接名词或代词，如：I prefer coffee to tea. 和茶相比，我更愿意喝咖啡。

would prefer是指两者都可以但是更倾向于前者 rather than do sth...would rather do sth..than do sth...would rather是指两者都不怎么样，如果非要选的话就选rather后面那个而不是than后面那个 主要是表达的语气和意思上的差别
