Endangered animals face a very high risk of extinction in the near future. Examples: Dhole, Blue Whale, Asian Elephant, Giant Panda, Snow Leopard, African Wild Dog, Green Sea Turtle, etc.
Here's how we can protect the endangered animals:
1 Find out what animals living near you are listed on the endangered species list. Spend some time learning about the animals and what their preferred habitat is.
2 Contribute to nature reserves and other wilderness areas. Habitat preservation is one of the best ways to help protect endangered animals. You can donate money or volunteer your time helping the nature reserve preserve habitat.
3 Buy environmentally friendly goods. Choose non-toxic cleaners and lawn care items that won't pollute streams, rivers or oceans. Avoid any procts that have been made from threatened or endangered animals. Buy foods and goods that are made from materials that do not harm endangered animals or their habitat. For example, look for organic chocolate, coffee or cotton clothing that is grown without cutting down rainforests or destroying habitat.
4 Create or restore habitat for endangered animals. You can volunteer to help with projects worldwide designed to reestablish habitat. In your own backyard, plant a butterfly garden, use native plants and trees and let "wild" areas grow to provide habitat and food.
5 Join a local, national or global conservation organization. Some organizations focus on one particular endangered animal while others focus on broad efforts for all endangered species. You can "adopt" an animal through these organizations, which makes a great gift idea as well.

Well known for its beautiful fur, the Snow Leopard has a soft grey coat with ringed spots and small dots of black on brown. The fur turns white in the winter. Because their fur command a very high price in the fur market, ring the 1960s, the Snow Leopard's total population went down to 1,000 animals, but has since recovered slightly. The total estimated wild population of the Snow Leopard is between 3,500 and 7,000 indivials (see table below). In addition, there are 600-700 animals in zoos around the

The Javan Rhinoceros （爪哇犀牛） is one of the rarest and most endangered large mammals anywhere in the world. According to 2002 estimates, only about 60 remain alive, in Java, Indonesia and Vietnam. Of all the rhino species （犀牛物种）, the least is known of the Javan Rhino （爪哇犀牛）, probably e to its low numbers.

The African Wild Dog（非洲野狗）, also known as the African Hunting Dog（非洲猎狗）, is endangered, primarily because of habitat loss and hunting as a result of human expansion along with growing farming and ranching needs. They were once found in 39 nations with an estimated population of500,000 dogs. Now of the 39 countries only 25 remain with an estimated population of 3,000 dogs.

Loggerhead Sea Turtle （蠵海龟，伐木头海龟？）,in temperate and tropical regions of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans,was named for their relatively large heads and powerful jaws. It was once intensively hunted for their meat and eggs, along with their fat which was used in cosmetics and medication. As a result it is now internationally protected through the US, Turkey,Greece, Bonaire and Costa Rica. In the U.S., total estimates for loggerhead nests per year range from 68,000 to 90,000. The worldwide population is unknown, although most populations outside of U.S. waters are declining.

The California Condor（加州秃鹫）is a species of North American bird in the New World vulture family. Currently, this condor inhabits only the western coastal mountains of the United States, Baja California, and the Grand Canyon. Though never great, condor numbers dramatically declined in the 1800's e to poaching, lead poisoning, and habitat destruction. Eventually, a conservation plan was put in place that led to the capture of all the remaining wild condors in 1987 for captive breeding and later reintrocing back to the wild. The project is the most expensive species conservation project ever undertaken in the United States. The California Condor is currently one of the world's rarest bird species. As of 2005, there were only 273 indivials.

The Sea otter (海獭) is a large otter native to the North Pacific. Sea otters have been hunted extensively for their luxurious fur. From 1741 onwards, over-hunting reced sea otter populations to the point of extermination in many parts of their historic range. It is estimated that a half million to a million otters were killed over time. By 1911 the world population was estimated to be just 1,000-2,000 indivials in 13 colonies. Although several subspecies are still endangered, the otters have since been legally protected
